Charlotte Proudman, a family law lawyer specializing in violence against women, is facing disciplinary action after criticizing a judge's ruling in a domestic abuse case.
Dr. Proudman stated, 'I represented Amanda Traharne. She said she was coerced into signing a post-nuptial agreement by her husband (who is a part-time judge). I lost the case. I do not accept the Judge's reasoning. I will never accept the minimization of domestic abuse.'
In her Twitter thread, Dr. Proudman emphasized, 'Demeaning the significance of domestic abuse has the effect of silencing victims and rendering perpetrators beyond accountability, a dangerous precedent.'
