Kentish Town flood: Homes and medical centre submerged in metre of water after pipe bursts
"Ten homes, a pub and a medical centre were all flooded following a major water main burst in Kentish Town. Properties were flooded with metre-deep water after the 18-inch water main flooded streets between Leighton Road and Kentish Town High Street. The basements of the Caversham Group Practice and ten nearby homes were filled with water, the London Fire Brigade said."
"Two shops and a pub were also flooded by 50cm deep water. An answering message at the Caversham Group Practice confirmed the medical centre had been closed due to flooding. The message explained: The surgery has now closed due to a burst water main in the high street and the surgery is flooded. Footage shared on social media showed water pouring down hill from Kentish Town station on the main road."
An 18-inch water main burst in Kentish Town flooded streets between Leighton Road and Kentish Town High Street, inundating properties with metre-deep water. The basements of the Caversham Group Practice and ten nearby homes were filled, while two shops and a pub experienced about 50cm of water. The medical centre closed and an automated message confirmed the closure due to flooding. Firefighters responded with four engines and around 25 personnel, establishing a cordon, conducting a systematic search, rescuing a man from a rear garden, and deploying barriers, sandbags and pumps to divert water. Thames Water worked with emergency services and some postcodes lost water.
