More than 50 international authors and academics signed a declaration supporting hunger-striking activists allegedly linked to the banned Palestine Action movement, who face imminent risk of death after refusing food for more than two months. The declaration's wording states, "We oppose genocide, we support the Palestine Action prisoners." Signatories include Tariq Ali, Sally Rooney, Moazzam Begg, Owen Jones, George Monbiot, Angela Davis, Judith Butler, Naomi Klein, and Ilan Pappé. The UK designated Palestine Action as a terrorist organization in July. Since that designation, more than 2,000 people have been arrested for supporting Palestine Action. Eight accused activists await trial on alleged damage to military and arms facilities and face lengthy pretrial detention. A small group of imprisoned activists began a hunger strike on November 2; three remain on strike and face imminent danger of death. UK authorities have refused to meet the activists.
