'It was amazing, surreal, extraordinary and very special': Co Armagh family delighted after royal visit from William and Kate
"It was amazing, surreal, extraordinary and very, very special for us as a small family-run business that they wanted to come here to our farm to meet us as a family, to be interested in us as a family, and to be concerned about us as a family - particularly after Storm Amy and how it affected the farm"
"They expressed an interest and a lot of what we are doing here at Long Meadows. They were particularly interested in the apple cider vinegar, because of all the health benefits, and the apple juice too, because our apple juice is all natural"
"It's like something out of Harry Potter."
Kate and William made an unannounced joint visit to Long Meadow Cider in Northern Ireland, marking their first joint Northern Ireland trip in three years. The McKeever family—Catherine, Alanna, Patrick and Peter—run the third-generation farm that has cultivated premium apples since 1968 and now produces craft ciders, apple juice and apple cider vinegar. The family diversified with younger-generation support and sells products in major supermarket chains while offering orchard tours and tastings. The royals received a bespoke tour of the production process, observed vinegar and pressing operations, and went apple picking in the orchard, where William compared the scene to Harry Potter. Catherine said the visit felt special, especially after damage from Storm Amy.
