The World Indoor Championships in Nanjing showcased both redemption and triumph for Britain's athletes, notably Jakob Ingebrigtsen's historic wins in the 1500m and 3000m events, marking his emergence as a dominant force in athletics. Ingebrigtsen’s performance matched the remarkable achievement of Haile Gebrselassie. Amber Anning earned a breakthrough as Britain's first women's 400m world champion after overcoming a setback at the European championships, displaying remarkable composure during a highly competitive final. Neil Gourley also made a triumphant return from injury, showcasing the resilience and talent of British competitors at this prestigious event.
This was also a successful event for Great Britain, not least for Amber Anning who became Britain's first women's 400m world champion, in dramatic circumstances on Saturday.
Anning was disqualified for a lane infringement in the European indoor championships that left her devastated, but in China she announced herself on the world stage.
It wasn't the cleanest race but the goal was to win and get my first individual title.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen stormed to a 3,000m triumph and delivered another imperious run when it mattered most.
