Jordan Peebles, 32, attempted an armed robbery at a shop in Coventry on December 24, 2025, wielding a kitchen knife and assaulting a staff member. While Peebles filled his bag with items from behind the counter, the assaulted worker escaped the premises and closed the shutter, trapping the robber inside. CCTV footage captured Peebles attempting unsuccessfully to force the shutter open. Police arrived within minutes and arrested him as he exited. Peebles pleaded guilty to robbery and received a sentence of four years and four months at Warwick Crown Court. West Midlands Police commended the worker's bravery and quick thinking, noting the incident could have resulted in serious injury or death.
