Emma Raducanu showcased impressive form by defeating world number 17 Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3, advancing to the second round in Strasbourg. This victory comes after a series of strong performances, including a quarter-final appearance at the Miami Open and a notable run in the Italian Open. Raducanu expressed pride in her aggressive play and focus, indicating her growing comfort on clay as she prepares for the French Open. Her strong showing against Kasatkina highlights her developing skills and confidence leading into the prestigious tournament.
"I'm really proud of my performance - I was very aggressive and I maintained my focus in the second set when it was getting close," Raducanu stated.
"As I spend more time on clay I'm beginning to like it more and more. I'm building my relationship with the surface"!
Raducanu, who reached the Miami Open quarter-finals in March, noted that she took a "physical and mental" break before her clay court swing.
Victory over Kasatkina was another indication the Briton is hitting her stride at the ideal time before her second French Open campaign begins.
