I just want security': fear remains for Syrian massacre survivors awaiting justice
Briefly

On March 7, a series of sectarian massacres occurred in al-Sanobar, north-west Syria, resulting in over 1,100 deaths, primarily among the Alawite sect. Haider, a survivor, witnessed the murder of 11 family members, including his brother and cousin, during the attack. The violence was instigated by a coordinated assault on government forces by dissident fighters. Pro-government gunmen filmed their actions and posted on social media, further instilling fear among survivors. Despite assurances from officials of an investigation, many victims' families are left feeling insecure and at risk, especially Haider, who still fears for his safety.
A spokesperson for Syria's interior ministry told the Guardian the men in the video had been arrested, but at least one of the gunmen remains active on Facebook, posting as recently as Tuesday.
There's no security at all, we are suffering. I'm dying a thousand deaths a day, he said over the phone.
By the end, more than 1,100 people were dead, including 11 members of Haider's family, during sectarian massacres in north-west Syria.
The massacres were prompted by a coordinated attack on Syrian government forces by fighters loyal to the ousted president Bashar al-Assad.
