Ukrainian troops are receiving over 1,000 tons of heavy-duty trawl nets from Denmark, thanks to the initiative of Carl Futtrup, a local gardener. After learning about the need for strong nets to intercept enemy drones, Futtrup rallied support and coordinated the donation of unused fishing nets from the fishing village of Thyborøn. These nets, crucial for protecting soldiers from drone attacks, represent a grassroots effort to contribute to the fight against Russia's invasion. Volunteers hope to send a total of 2.1 million pounds of nets to Ukraine amid increasing drone warfare.
"They write to me that they want more because, without this, all other donations are worthless," Futtrup told Business Insider.
"They're really effective because the drones are still using propellers, and the nets catch the propellers," said Mykhaylo A.
