Hosepipe ban announced for parts of UK as drought takes hold
Briefly

Yorkshire Water has announced a hosepipe ban starting July 11, aimed at conserving water amid one of the driest springs on record in the region. From February to June, only 15cm of rainfall was recorded, which is less than half of the typical average. The warm spring has also resulted in higher water demand, causing the reservoirs to be at only 55.8 percent of their capacity, 26.1 percent lower than normal. Action is deemed necessary to protect the environment and manage water resources effectively.
