The Accommodation Recognition Payment (ARP) scheme for hosting Ukrainian refugees, initiated at €400 and later increased to €800, has provided over €256m to 22,500 hosts. Set to expire on March 31, indications suggest a continuation of the program, albeit with a payment reduction to €600. Concerns loom among the refugee community regarding potential loss of accommodation. The relevant department is transitioning to the Department of Justice, but collaborative efforts are ongoing to address the future of the scheme within the government framework.
Since the launch of the scheme, over €256m has been paid to over 22,500 hosts in respect of 51,000 Ukrainian refugees.
While the department is in a transition period, there is a 'collective approach' being taken between the two departments.
