GAA player's brother who was killed in crash suffered heart episode 'caused by excessive cocaine use'
Briefly

Caolan Devlin, brother of GAA football player Niall Devlin, died in a tragic accident caused by cardiac arrhythmia linked to cocaine use. On March 5, 2024, while driving, Devlin experienced an irregular heartbeat, leading to him swerving into oncoming traffic and colliding with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Despite attempts by passers-by and emergency services, he died at the scene. The coroner indicated that cocaine use exacerbated his condition, with the father stating the quickness of the death provided "small solace" amid the tragedy.
The coroner noted how the concoction of drugs only makes cocaine more "dangerous", which contributed to the cardiac incident leading to Mr. Devlin's tragic death.
Witnesses reported seeing "debris falling from the sky" upon collision, highlighting the severity of the two-vehicle crash on the A5 in Co Tyrone.
