Brett Kemp, who has returned from holiday only to find a portable toilet installed next to his Purley home, claims it has drastically affected his ability to sell the property. Despite lowering the asking price from £650,000 to £635,000 due to lack of interest and only receiving two viewings in three weeks, he believes the toilet outside his home is a major deterrent for potential buyers who are certainly averse to seeing such facilities at their future address.
Transport for London (TfL) installed the portable toilet without any consultation with nearby residents, leaving Brett Kemp and his neighbors to deal with the unpleasant smell when bus drivers use it. Although TfL has since replaced the original toilet with a sturdier version that has a door facing away from Kemp's property, he still finds the odor an ongoing issue, stating that even now, he can still smell it when the door is opened.
