Famous lawyer fears 'AI will cause miscarriages of justice, like Post Office scandal'
Briefly

In an interview, Michael Mansfield KC highlighted ongoing issues of racism in British policing and the systemic failures within the justice system, particularly regarding the Horizon scandal affecting postmasters. Mansfield, a notable figure in controversial legal cases, emphasized the risk of miscarriages of justice, mentioning that some police officers still target specific community groups as suspects. He condemned the insidious culture within the police force, illustrated by disturbing behaviors and messages revealed among officers, despite some efforts for reform following investigations.
The need for being alert and aware of the risks of a miscarriage of justice is as great as it's ever been, he told Newsquest.
There is a culture amongst some police that some areas of the community are more liable to commit crime than others.
Although there has been a shift in my lifetime I think the culture is insidious. It creeps underneath what's going on.
It's pretty shocking behaviour, said Mr Mansfield, in response to the racist and misogynistic messages sent by police officers.
