An artist in London placed unauthorized fake OpenAI-style advertisements inside subway cars. The ads used OpenAI’s black-and-white branding and logo alongside the words “ChatGPT.” The messages claimed that a machine was built to tell teenagers to kill themselves, while also suggesting it could help with homework. The artist said the posters were intended to raise alarm about ChatGPT’s integration into schools. The timing coincided with a London education conference where OpenAI was present. Transport for London stated the posters were unauthorized flyposting and would be removed. The piece links chatbot use to multiple deaths, including suicides involving teenagers, and mentions other chatbot services connected to similar incidents.
