Ex-Arsenal footballer denies trying to smuggle 600,000 of cannabis into UK

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, a professional footballer, faces serious charges of attempting to smuggle 600,000 worth of cannabis through Stansted Airport, having pleaded not guilty in court.
The National Crime Agency reported that an estimated 600,000 of class B drugs were seized, with the cannabis totaling around 60kg found in two suitcases from a flight from Bangkok.
Emmanuel-Thomas, who has an extensive career across several clubs including Arsenal and Ipswich Town, was arrested in September and has been remanded in custody since.
Following his arrest and the subsequent charge, his football club Greenock Morton terminated his contract, reflecting the severity of the allegations against him.
