Epping Forest District Council has issued an apology following a malfunction of the fire alarm at the Cottis Yard car park during Easter Sunday. The prolonged alarm caused significant disruption to local residents. The council, which assumed management of the car park in March 2025, is currently reviewing response procedures to minimize disturbances in the future. Additionally, they are working to repair the malfunctioning alarm system. A council spokesman expressed regret for the inconvenience and requested patience from the community as they seek solutions.
We would like to apologise to residents for the disruption the fire alarm at Cottis Yard car park caused on Easter Sunday. The alarm should not have been going off for as long as it did.
Since taking over management of the car park at the end of March 2025, we have been working hard to fix the alarm system, reducing the number of instances and try to respond in a timely manner whenever it does go off.
