A 37-year-old man from Western Australia has been arrested for disorderly behavior at Perth Airport after allegedly becoming aggressive and intoxicated. The incident occurred on March 24 as the man attempted to board a flight to Melbourne. He became unruly when asked to leave the aircraft by airline staff and later punched a wall. Arrested by Australian Federal Police, he faces charges carrying a maximum penalty of $6,000 and is set to appear in court. Authorities emphasize the need for safe airport environments and swift intervention against aggressive behavior.
The AFP will allege the man, 37, was intoxicated as he boarded a flight bound for Melbourne," AFP said in a statement.
"Our airports are a shared, safe space and airport and airline staff should not have to deal with intoxicated passengers, verbal abuse or any other bad behavior," AFP detective inspector Peter Brindal said.
"The man was then restrained after attempting to open the middle emergency exit door, highlighting the serious risks associated with alcohol-fueled behavior during flights."
