Brentwood Council approved plans for 38 new homes in Shenfield after the developer, Stonebond, committed to enhanced road safety measures. Previous deferrals were due to concerns regarding footpath safety, road width, parking provisions, and biodiversity. The developer will expand pedestrian pathways, install road bollards, and implement a chicane system to slow traffic. Councillor Nicky Cuthbert welcomed the safety improvements despite ongoing concerns about biodiversity credits. This housing project is part of a bigger scheme to construct approximately 825 homes at Officers' Meadow, which will also include a primary school, nursery, and a residential care home.
