""I'm so happy I don't know what to say," he said. "My life has just begun again. Before I didn't have hope, but now by God's grace I can move forward with my life.""
""I don't know how many different sofas I've slept on, too many to count," he said."
""It's open to your family and friends to visit you in Nigeria.""
Anthony Olubunmi George, 63, arrived in the UK from Nigeria in 1986 and has lived in the country for almost 40 years. He has no criminal convictions and has not left the UK since arrival. Two strokes in 2019 left him with speech and mobility issues. He experienced periods of homelessness and relied on friends for shelter, saying he no longer has close family in Nigeria. Previous solicitors submitted a forged 2005 passport entry stamp and have been reported to police and legal regulators. The Home Office rejected his leave to remain applications, and an immigration tribunal granted him the right to stay, noting poor prior representation and health impacts from avoiding medical care.
