Dad issues warning over spiders in the UK - after false widow bite
Briefly

Brian Smith, a 43-year-old father from Maidstone, Kent, suffered a severe reaction to a false widow spider bite, leading to extreme swelling in his limbs and an eventual diagnosis of arthritis. After waking from a sharp pain in his hand, doctors informed him his hand might explode due to the swelling. Hospitalized for three weeks, he now checks his bedsheets for spiders and warns others about the dangers of venomous species in the UK.
I was quite shocked a spider in the UK could cause this sort of damage. I thought this only happened in Australia.
Brian was rushed to hospital via ambulance where doctors told him he'd had a reaction to a spider's venom.
His hand could only swell 20 percent more before 'exploding', and he was hospitalized for three weeks as the venom spread.
He now checks his bedsheets for any pesky creatures and is warning others to remain vigilant of venomous spiders too.
