Dozens of protesters rallied outside the home of Najibullah Noori and his wife, who are facing a no-fault eviction. They have struggled to find new accommodation since receiving the eviction notice six months ago. Protesters, including members from London Renters Union, demonstrated for over five hours to support the couple and resist eviction. The union expressed concerns over increasing rent prices and landlords’ power to evict without reason. Their efforts aim to delay the eviction until the government's Renters' Rights Bill is enacted, which would end Section 21 evictions.
Eviction resistance is really just an effort to keep people in their homes and keep people living locally until the government finally passes this Renters' Rights Bill.
Mr Noori said the situation has left him stressed and feeling like everyone is against him. He said he has had to go through court proceedings.
