British Airways raises price of Avios reward tickets
British Airways is increasing the cash component of reward tickets booked through its Avios loyalty scheme by up to 33% with five days’ notice. The change takes effect from Wednesday 27 May. Avios requirements for bookings will remain unchanged for now. A Club World example from London Heathrow to New York JFK that previously required 176,000 Avios will now require an additional cash amount, increasing by roughly 100, about 25%. Customers can book until Wednesday to pay current prices. The airline said the increase is intended to reflect changing costs and advised customers to book before the change.
"British Airways is putting up the price of reward tickets for customers using Avios, giving five days' notice of the increases. The cash element of tickets booked through its loyalty scheme will rise by up to 33 per cent from Wednesday 27 May.
