Boy (8) dies after getting into difficulty at sea off Sligo beach

Tragedy struck at Lissadell Beach in Co Sligo when an 8-year-old boy drowned in the sea. Emergency services, including Gardaí and volunteers from Sligo RNLI, responded quickly after the alarm was raised. The boy received emergency medical treatment on the beach before being airlifted by the Irish Coast Guard's Rescue 118 to Sligo University Hospital. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, the boy later passed away. Investigations are underway, and a report will be submitted to the Coroner's Court.
