Stephen Mayhew, a 48-year-old bus driver from Bexleyheath, was sentenced to three years in prison for engaging in sexually explicit communication with someone he believed to be a minor. Between November 2023 and July 2024, Mayhew communicated with a decoy operated by a paedophile hunter group, leading to his arrest on July 31. He pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to incite a child under 13 to sexual activity. In addition to his prison sentence, the court also imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

After being arrested on July 31, Mayhew pleaded guilty to charges related to child sexual communication and was sentenced on June 16.
Along with his prison term, Mayhew received a 10-year sexual harm prevention order following his conviction for attempted child sexual offenses.
