A nine-year-old girl, Aria Thorpe, died from a single stab wound to her chest at her home on Lime Close shortly before 6.10pm on 15 December. A 15-year-old boy was arrested, charged with her murder, and remanded into youth detention ahead of a trial in June. A coroner's officer confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest. Family members paid tribute, describing Aria as happy-go-lucky, full of light and joy, who loved to sing, dance and dress up, and expressing profound devastation and heartbreak at her loss.
