Megan Cusack, known for her role as Nancy Corrigan on Call the Midwife, has announced her departure from the show after four years. Although she described her time as bittersweet, she emphasized the lifelong friendships made during her tenure. In the upcoming Christmas special, she will exit alongside her on-screen partner, adding significant emotional weight to her storyline. Fans have voiced their mixed reactions, with some expressing sadness over her departure and hopes for a positive conclusion to her character's journey. Cusack shared her decision is driven by the need to take a leap in her career.
I've learnt so much, but I'm at the start of my career and I need to take a leap of faith. It's bittersweet, really. I've made lifelong friendships there and I get to take those with me. But when I think about not rocking up to set and seeing Tim, who's part of the grips team, with his guitar hanging out of his van and serenading people at half six in the morning it really has been like a family.
I will hugely miss Nancy, she's grown to be one of my favourite characters and I love her relationship with Colette and her down to earth, say what she thinks manner.
Not a huge surprise, she's barely been in this series. I just hope they let her have a happy ever after and don't do a Barbara on us.
