DC London Pie, the franchisee operating Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants in the UK, appointed administrators from FTI after financial distress. Yum! Brands purchased the UK restaurant operation in a pre-pack administration, securing 64 sites and protecting 1,277 workers. Closures will place 1,210 jobs at risk and lead to the shuttering of 11 delivery sites. Pizza Hut had more than 260 UK restaurants at its peak after launching in 1973 and previously closed 29 branches in 2020 amid Covid-19 losses. Thirteen sites exist inside the M25; nine face closure while four were rescued. Other takeaway and delivery franchisees remain unaffected.
