AI has the potential to transform public services and address complex challenges such as cancer care and the climate crisis, while also posing major risks to employment. London faces a particularly large impact across finance, professional services and the creative industries. Polling found 56% of London workers expect AI to affect their job within a year. Entry-level roles are likely to vanish first, undermining young people’s career starts. Urgent intervention is proposed, including a taskforce of government, skills and industry experts, findings due in the summer, and free AI training for all Londoners.
