Advert banned over complimentary food and drink claims on train services
Briefly

An at-seat service of complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks is available throughout the day for all first-class customers. In addition to drinks and snacks, customers on longer journeys can choose from a range of complimentary sandwiches.
The ASA found that catering was available on less than 80 per cent of journeys, contradicting the claim on the firm's website that passengers would receive free food and drink on most first-class services.
The ASA ruled that the claim of 'complimentary food and drink' was misleading since the actual rate of services offering catering, between 70% and 78%, did not align with the impression conveyed by the ad.
