Crater of Diamonds State Park, located two hours southwest of Little Rock, Arkansas, offers a unique experience where visitors can hunt for diamonds and keep their finds. Established in a former volcanic crater, the park has a 37-acre field where over 35,000 diamonds have been unearthed since a local farmer's discovery in 1906. Admission is $15 for adults, with tools available for rent. The best time to search for diamonds is after rain, which uncovers gems near the surface. The park features a 'Hall of Fame' for remarkable geological discoveries.
Many of the park's largest diamonds are found on top of the ground. As rain falls in the search area, it washes away the dirt and uncovers heavy rocks, minerals, and diamonds near the surface.
This 911-acre park attracts visitors from all across the Natural State, and beyond. Because of what lies beneath the soil, it's a unique destination.
