After moving to Quito, Ecuador, for what was initially supposed to be one year, a love for the country’s biodiversity, landscapes, and culture developed and resulted in a seven-year stay. Ecuador's diverse ecosystems include a Pacific coastline, the Andes mountains, the Amazon rainforest, and the Galápagos Islands. Early experiences included exploring beautiful lakes, historical sites, and tasting exceptional food. The unique landscapes continue to provide a sense of wonder and adventure, fostering a lasting connection to the country.
Ecuador contains four major regions: a Pacific coastline with postcard-perfect beaches, the Andes with towering volcanoes and magical páramos, the awe-inspiring Amazon rainforest, and the famous Galápagos Islands.
In just my first two weeks in Ecuador, I visited turquoise volcano lakes, history-rich city centers and intricately built churches, and even the Amazon rainforest.
