Warning of four day closure on parts of the Metropolitan and Chiltern Railway next week

"The closure is due to London Underground signalling works between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham, and it means no trains on either the tube or the mainline can run along the line. From Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd February, there will be no service on the Metropolitan line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, Chesham and Watford. At the same time, Chiltern Railways will be suspended on the Marylebone - Amersham - Aylesbury Vale Parkway route as well."

"Replacement bus services will be in place, but Transport for London ( TfL) warns that journeys will take far longer than usual, partly because there are also roadworks between Chorleywood and Rickmansworth, which are slowing road traffic at the moment. TfL says that passengers travelling from Amersham, Chesham, Chalfont & Latimer or Chorleywood on rail replacement buses will need to change buses at Rickmansworth, which could add up to an hour to their journey."

Metropolitan line and Chiltern Railways services north of Harrow on the Hill will be suspended from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd February for signalling works between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham. No trains will run on the Metropolitan line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, Chesham and Watford, and Chiltern Railways' Marylebone - Amersham - Aylesbury Vale Parkway route will be suspended. Replacement buses will operate, and roadworks between Chorleywood and Rickmansworth will further slow journeys. Passengers from Amersham, Chesham, Chalfont & Latimer or Chorleywood must change buses at Rickmansworth, which could add up to an hour. The Uxbridge branch will operate normally, with alternative London Overground, Jubilee and national rail services nearby. The closure is required to allow essential testing of the Metropolitan line's new signalling system as part of the Four Lines Modernisation project to improve reliability.
