Want to Visit Yosemite This Summer? You'll Probably Need a Reservation Again | KQED
Briefly

This summer, Yosemite National Park will require vehicle reservations for visitors entering the park during specified high-traffic periods, especially from June 15 to August 15, and on key holiday weekends. Reservations can be made on recreation.gov beginning May 6. Despite these requirements, there are exceptions for those entering the park during off-peak hours or with specific bookings. The reservation system responds to a significant rise in visitation, aiming to alleviate congestion and improve the visitor experience.
Visitors will need a day reservation to enter Yosemite during peak times, particularly between June 15 and Aug. 15 and on holiday weekends.
Vehicle reservations for Yosemite can be made starting May 6 at 8 a.m. PT through recreation.gov for a non-refundable fee of $2.
Reservations will not be necessary if visitors enter before 6 a.m. or after 2 p.m., book lodging, or utilize YARTS.
Yosemite's reservation system aims to manage the record number of national park visitors, addressing overcrowding during high-traffic periods.
