"These little gingerbread zombies have taken on a life of their own," Siqueiros, a food and beverage product optimization manager at Disneyland, told SFGATE via video. The gingerbread zombies in question - you might be tempted to call them "gingerdead," but someone owns that copyright - are in Haunted Mansion Holiday, the spookily festive " The Nightmare Before Christmas" version of the 1969 ride that happens every Halloween and holiday season.
"Ironically, having a real, edible house wasn't even part of the original plan. Imagineer Steve Davison 'decided that it would be fun to do an overlay for the Haunted Mansion... and in the poem he put a clause in there that said, 'even a gingerbread house could be scary.'" said Siqueiros, who has worked on the attraction since that first iteration.
