This Boutique Hotel in New York's Hamptons Is the Perfect End-of-Summer Escape
Briefly

East Hampton's Maidstone, an 1840s tannery and lodge turned boutique inn, is now operated year-round by LDV Hospitality, bringing Italian influence from Scarpetta. The property retains its whitewashed, shutter-lined aesthetic and includes 19 refreshed rooms and cottages, pop-up activation spaces, and a Scarpetta-led Italian restaurant by chef Jorge Espinoza. Rooms feature neutral palettes with individual touches, vintage accents, Frette linens, Schostal pajamas, and Santa Maria Novella amenities; cottages offer outdoor seating and privacy. The lobby restaurant and marble bar serve all-day coastal Italian fare with aperitivo hours and a twinkled-light back garden. Upcoming 2025 pop-ups include Salon 21 lifestyle sketches.
Rooms and suites within the main house come in a neutral palette, each with their own individual flair. One might find chairs and bed throws in muted peach and emerald tones, while rotary phones and analog clocks atop rattan nightstands add a dash of nostalgia. For a more residential feel, standalone cottages are available in the back garden, where guests enjoy outdoor seating and added privacy, a great pick for families.
The lobby's restaurant and bar is an all-day affair. Inside, a sleek marble bar hosts daily aperitivo from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Coastal Italian picks like crabmeat- and chili-topped linguine nero, white truffle pinsa, and yellowtail crudo adorn the main dining room's crisp white-clothed tables (pro-tip: ask for seating next to the fireplace during colder days). A spacious, elegant back garden hosts diners underneath strands of twinkling lights.
