Delta ditches 'basic economy' in ticketing overhaul - here's how fliers can still snag a cut-price fare
Briefly

Delta Airlines is revamping its ticket offerings to enhance customer options and flexibility. The current Basic Economy ticket will be renamed Delta Main Basic, maintaining its status as the most economical tier while offering essentials only—like no seat selection or early boarding. Besides Delta Main Basic, new ticket tiers will be introduced, including Delta Main Classic and Delta Main Extra. Additionally, other fare categories such as First Class and Comfort+ will also receive new names. Overall, customers will have access to 11 ticket options for their travel needs.
Delta's Chief Digital Officer stated that the overhaul "gives customers more options and flexibility to pick the travel experience that works best for them, and a full picture of all the benefits of flying with Delta."
From October 1, Basic Economy will be officially known as Delta Main Basic, offering essentials without extras like seat selection or early boarding.
