AAA predicts the worst time to drive Bay Area highway for Thanksgiving
Briefly

About 80 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles for the holiday, surpassing last year's numbers by 1.7 million people. It's also 2 million more than the number of pre-pandemic travelers in 2019.
AAA predicts that the most brutal traffic conditions are for travelers leaving San Francisco around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 26, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Travelers leaving San Francisco for Sacramento on I-80 could see travel times exceeding three hours to cover the nearly 90-mile stretch.
In the Bay Area, average gas prices are more than 50 cents cheaper than they were this time last year, at below $3 a gallon.
