Protests against Elon Musk erupted outside the Tesla service center in Brooklyn, coinciding with other demonstrations globally. Critics accuse Musk of undermining democracy through his influence as a special government employee. With slogans like 'Stop the coup' and 'Musk must go,' demonstrators gathered to express their frustration over perceived political and corporate overreach. This third week of protests signals increasing public dissent amid Tesla's plummeting sales, reflecting broader concerns about the intersection of corporate power and government.
The protest was part of the third straight week of demonstrations at Tesla stores and repair centers around the world, all taking aim at Musk and his increased role in gutting the U.S. government and global far-right politics.
'You can't run a country like a corporation,' Emily Waters, a professor of art and design at the Parson's School of Design, told InsideEVs. 'It should be run by the people who we voted for. Elon was not elected,' Waters said.
In Brooklyn, protesters held placards that read 'Stop the coup,' 'Musk must go,' and 'Dangerous oligarchs gutting everything.'
But this past weekend's nationwide mass mobilizations dialed things up, indicating growing signs of trouble for Tesla, whose sales have been tanking globally this year.
