SpaceX's Starship suffered a critical failure during its recent test flight, becoming the second consecutive flight to experience a serious issue. The launch appeared successful for the initial eight minutes, with separation from the Super Heavy booster. However, shortly after, the spacecraft lost multiple Raptor engines and spiraled uncontrollably over the Gulf of Mexico. Communication with the ship was lost at that point. SpaceX aims to learn from these test flights, considering them essential for future commercial missions despite the setbacks.
We just saw some engines go out, it looks like we are losing attitude control of the ship. At this point we have lost contact with the ship.
SpaceX is purposely developing Starship by doing test flights like these, and learning from the things that go both right and wrong.
