Centennial College is implementing further program cuts for Fall 2025, following earlier suspensions of 49 programs. The school is adjusting to declining international student enrollment and stagnant funding, which is compounded by the federal government's cap on international study permits. While specific details on affected programs were not disclosed, it's confirmed that affected employees have been notified and given support. President Craig Stephenson acknowledged the challenging decisions, emphasizing the need to recalibrate the workforce and announcing a future campus merger.
"To hear that, it was both shocking and very upsetting. I had spent most of Friday just kind of in a state of shock and upset about it."
"Centennial has made the difficult but necessary decision to calibrate our workforce," said president Craig Stephenson in a recent statement.
"The college will relocate all programs from its Story Arts Centre in East York to its Progress campus in Scarborough by the summer of 2026."
Centennial is dealing with financial challenges related to the federal government's cap on international study permits, leading to program suspensions.
