The college basketball offseason has officially commenced, with the transfer window closed. While roster changes may slow down, significant moves and decisions remain, including the NBA draft and new recruitments. Purdue has jumped to the top of the Way-Too-Early Top 25 given its recent acquisitions and roster depth, surpassing previously ranked Houston. With strong players like Braden Smith expected to lead the team, Purdue's fortunes in the upcoming season look promising, though uncertainties linger over players like Milos Uzan regarding their NBA prospects.
After Houston emerged as the No. 1 in the first two versions, Purdue vaults past the Cougars into the top spot of the third. It was a close debate for the past couple of weeks, but Milos Uzan entering the NBA draft and the Boilermakers adding much-needed depth to round out their roster give them the edge.
There's a chance Purdue has the preseason Wooden Award favorite and two All-Americans on its roster next season. Braden Smith will start the season as the best guard in the country after taking the next step in his development this past campaign.
