The decisive third set went to a tiebreak where Draper ultimately prevailed 7-6 (5). Djokovic showed signs of exhaustion during the decider, with lengthy rallies and physical exertion taking their toll. Despite Draper's near-miss when serving for the match, he secured the victory when Djokovic netted a backhand on match point. Separately, British player Sonay Kartal's Indian Wells campaign ended when she retired from her last-16 match against Elena Rybakina while trailing 6-4, 4-3 due to ongoing back problems.
