Florida Panthers' left winger Matthew Tkachuk returned to practice for the first time since a groin injury sustained in February. Coach Paul Maurice indicated that Tkachuk looked good but reiterated the need for further assessment after Monday's practice before confirming his availability for the upcoming playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Teammate Aleksander Barkov expressed excitement for Tkachuk's return, highlighting his unique contribution as both a player and teammate. Tkachuk actively participated in drills with his usual line and power-play unit, signaling progress in his recovery effort.
"It was a special teams day, so it's not a lot of contact, not a lot of five men moving, but it was a good day for where we're at," Maurice said after practice Saturday.
"There's no one like him. Well, his brother, but there is no one exactly like him in the way he is as a teammate, the way he plays the game," Barkov said.
