Toronto Once Again Wins The Stanley Cup Of Angst | Defector
Briefly

The Toronto Maple Leafs have faced criticism after their collapse in a playoff series against the Florida Panthers, notably losing after being up 2-0. Players like Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner expressed disappointment, indicating the need for improvement and accountability. Matthews acknowledged fans’ frustrations during the game, which saw empty seats in the third period, while Coach Craig Berube emphasized everyone must evaluate their performance. The team's failure to challenge the opposing goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky, signifies deeper issues that could hinder their playoff success.
I do find my stony resolve cracking a bit when I see what the Leafs themselves had to say about a game in which they allowed six unanswered.
'Everybody's got to look in the mirror,' Matthews added. And then later, of the many empty seats in the third period: 'We didn't give them much reason to stick around.'
This was a turd from puck drop. The Leafs never really challenged Sergei Bobrovsky, who had 31 saves, none of which were difficult.
Mitch Marner, who's due for a massive contract this summer... 'You flush it down the toilet.'
