Kevin Velo, a rookie on the PGA Tour, recently qualified for the U.S. Open by finishing atop a qualifying tournament in Toronto with an impressive 8-under 132. This marks a significant achievement in Velo’s golfing career, especially after a challenging start to his rookie season. He expressed excitement about playing at the historic Oakmont Country Club. Velo worked hard to develop his golfing skills from an early age, eventually making his high school varsity team after not qualifying initially as a freshman.
To play at a historic place like Oakmont coming up, I'm super excited. I'm going to have to change my flight plans a little bit here and book a house.
Velo's accomplishment came on what is dubbed Golf's Longest Day, with U.S. Open qualifying events taking place all over North America.
