
"Durham police say a 57-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a pick-up truck in Ajax, Ont., on Thursday. Officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at the Kingston Road W. and Ritchie Avenue intersection shortly after 11 a.m. , said the Durham Regional Police Service in a news release Saturday. A pick-up truck allegedly struck the woman while she was crossing the street. She was transported to a Toronto-area hospital, where she later died."
"In a social media post Thursday, Durham police said the roadway was closed. In Saturday's release, Durham police said it was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. Speaking to reporters Thursday, Const. Nicholas Gluckstein said the vehicle was making a left turn when it struck the pedestrian. "This is a very busy intersection, there's multiple laneways," he said."
