Video captures person jumping, holding to door of moving GO train | CBC News
"A video has emerged of a person jumping onto a moving GO train on social media, prompting Metrolinx to urge commuters to not do the same. The video shared by Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay shows an individual running down a platform as a train begins to slowly move along at 8:32 p.m. on Jan. 21. The person is seen leaning over the platform and grabbing hold of a train door, as it continues to chug away. Thankfully, seconds later, the train comes to a halt."
"Crews immediately stopped the train when they realized what was happening, said Lindsay, adding that no one inside the train was injured. Everyone has had those days where they're racing for the train, just as the doors close, he said on social media. But in that situation, even if the train is still stationary, people should step back behind the yellow line and wait for the next one, Lindsay said. I know just how awful it feels to miss a train. But no exam, meeting, interview or appointment is worth putting yourself or others at risk, he said."
A person ran down a platform and grabbed the door of a GO train as it began to move slowly at 8:32 p.m. on Jan. 21, and the train was brought to a halt seconds later. Crews immediately stopped the train and no one inside was injured. Commuters are urged to stay behind the yellow line and wait for the next train rather than attempt to board a moving or closing-door train. Observers are encouraged to report unsafe behaviour. A transportation planning professor warned that GO trains can reach 80 to 120 km/h and that hanging on could be lethal. Further information was requested from Metrolinx about follow-up actions and whether police were contacted.
