Report: Eloy Jimenez returns to Blue Jays on minor-league deal
Eloy Jiménez is returning to the Toronto Blue Jays on a minor-league agreement and is expected to report to Triple-A Buffalo. The 29-year-old slugger previously elected free agency after being designated for assignment and clearing waivers. This is his third minor-league contract with the organization since joining last September. He played only six games with Buffalo before the 2025 season ended, then returned for another chance to make the major-league club as a non-roster invitee. He did not break through and began the 2026 season in Buffalo. An opportunity with Toronto followed, but his production was limited, with a .290 average over 12 games and no extra-base hits, leading to being designated for assignment. He will now focus on first base and DH duties, with occasional outfield corner work, to restart his power.
"Now that Jiménez is due to rejoin the system, he'll have an opportunity to reignite his bat with the Bisons, where he'll mostly occupy first base and DH reps, but may also occasionally shift to an outfield corner."
