In a news release on Monday, police said the Ontario Fire Marshal found the person following the blaze that broke out last Thursday on King Street W.
Clarington Fire said one person was unaccounted for after the fire was extinguished, and they were subsequently identified by investigators.
The building where the fire occurred is at least a century old and has businesses at street level and residential units on the second and third stories.
Police said the Ontario Fire Marshal's office is still investigating the cause of the fire and continued their investigation into the incident.
